Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is movement-based therapy designed to increase flexibility, relieve pain, improve physical function and make everyday tasks easier. The programs are made up of many sessions carried out over several days, weeks, or months. Most patients visit a physical therapist for in-office therapy and also participate in at-home exercises to make progress in between sessions. Depending on the goals of therapy, a patient’s customized program may include a series of stretching, weight-lifting, hot and cold therapy, and movements designed to increase balance, coordination or endurance.
Many people can benefit from physical therapy. Here at ONE® Brain and Spine Center®, we often recommend it to patients who are recovering from surgery. It can also be beneficial for individuals with limited mobility caused by arthritis, traumatic injuries, soft tissue inflammation, and chronic back and neck pain. Physical therapy can be used alone or in conjunction with other treatments and therapies.
